Ice Cream in The Cupboard A True Story of Early Onset Alzheimer's

Caregivers are "knowledge-seekers", striving to learn all that they can about AD, care giving and how the disease affects the people it strikes. Ice Cream in the Cupboard is a touching account of one man’s journey, losing the love of his life to Alzheimer’s disease. But it is also a lesson plan, documenting Alzheimer’s as it imposes upon the life of Pat Moffett’s loving wife, Carmen, his life and those of his children. Carmen Moffett was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at age 53. Early Onset AD strikes earlier, progresses faster and is more genetic in nature than the more common form of the disease. This book will educate you, suggest care giving strategies, prepare you, and share with you the loss that this disease imposes. Author: Pat Moffett (228 pp, hard back)

What we like best about this book:
It’s easy reading, as easy as this topic can be expected to be. It’s well-written, both predictable and unpredictable, just like the disease. And it is a love story, probably not unlike the one you may be experiencing yourself. You will be able to relate to this book, especially for those traveling this path and encountering the same bumps and cracks you may or may not expect. The way Pat Moffett deals with the disease is creative, admirable and, though no two people with AD are the same, they work.
